Hiya!

My Ex-racehorse has just been in for surgery and he now is really fussy about taking bute from the bucket, even when it is mixed in with his feed. He usually does take it in the end but if anyone has any tips on how to make it nicer for him then I would love to hear them!

 Thanks Everyone!

One of the best ways is to just cut an apple in half and put the bute inside..
My friend had a similar horse who refused to eat bute and when she told the vet, she said that you can get flavoured bute that tastes alot nicer! In the end she managed to get some from her vets and the horse ate it no problem in his feed. I think its relatively easy to get hold of.

Hope this helps xx

Thanks for all your replies! I have found the perfect soloution. For other peoples reference, I replaced his chaff with bran and mollasses. Mix the mollasses into the bran and then pour on enough hot water to soak into the bran. I then mix that into his normal feed and he loves it!

Thanks Alot!

Hi i have always found bute mixed in lots of suga beat works well. The sweetness takes away the taste.
Good luck
